BrainSuite: Toolbar


Many of BrainSuite’s commonly used functions are accessible via the toolbox below the menu bar. These functions are:

Open Open a file
Save the primary volume Save the current primary image file
Copy Copy the current selection to the clipboard

Show console Toggle showing the console with module output
Display properties Toggles the volume display properties dialog box, which displays the currently open volume, overlay, label, and mask files, and lets you set threshold and alpha values.
View three channel model Displays volume file in red, the first overlay layer in green, and the second overlay level in blue.
Label painter Opens the label painter tool dialog box
Display the colored outlines of the loaded labels
Display the loaded labels as colored areas
Open the mask editing tool Opens the mask tool dialog box
Apply mask to displayed images Toggles display of the currently loaded mask
Changes the way the mask is displayed. Cycles between outlining the masked area in green; displaying the masked area as a solid white area; hiding the mask; displaying only what’s contained in the mask; and showing the mask as an inverted, translucent area.
Zoom in Zooms in, centering on the location of the cross-hairs.
Zoom out Zooms out, centering on the location of the cross-hairs.
Zoom best fit Sets the image zoom so that the full image fills the viewing area available to it.
Zoom reset Resets the zoom level
XY orientation Displays the XY plane of the volume. In LPI-oriented volumes, this is equivalent to the axial (horizontal) view.
XZ orientation Displays the XZ plane of the volume. In LPI-oriented volumes, this is equivalent to the coronal view.
YZ orientation Displays the YZ plane of the volume. In LPI-oriented volumes, this is equivalent to the sagittal view.
View single slice Displays the currently selected slice of the volume in a single plane.
View orthogonal planes Displays the currently selected slice of the volume in three planes (xy, xz, and yz).
View lightbox 3×3 Displays the currently selected slice and plane with the next eight slices in the same plane in a 3 by 3 arrangement.
Rotate active image 90 degrees counter-clockwise Rotates the primary volume 90° counter-clockwise. This does not change the volume’s file, only how it’s displayed.
Rotate active image 90 degrees clockwise Rotates the primary volume 90° clockwise. This does not change the volume’s file, only how it’s displayed.
Flip active image left-right Switches the primary volume’s left and right. This does not change the volume’s file, only how it’s displayed.
Flip active image up-down Switches the primary volume’s top and bottom. This does not change the volume’s file, only how it’s displayed.
Rotate active image 180 degrees Rotates the primary volume 180°. This does not change the volume’s file, only how it’s displayed.
Reset rotation for active image Resets the view of the volume to its original orientation.
